Support Worker

Jay works closely with participants, their families, and other relevant stakeholders to build positive and collaborative relationships. Their calm, accepting, and communicative approach helps participants feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their journey with DFS.

Jay is a support worker for DFS who is based in Wollongong. They have several years of experience in support work assisting individuals with autism, ADHD, psychosocial disabilities, and diverse communication needs. Jay also has lived experience within the LGBTQIA+ community and is passionate about providing inclusive and respectful supports.

Jay applies a calm, person-centred, and solution-focused approach throughout their supports. They believe that every participant should play an active role in their support journey and that each person’s preferred communication style should be respected and prioritised. Jay enjoys helping participants identify and overcome barriers to their goals while building confidence, independence, and self-understanding.

Outside of work, Jay enjoys tabletop roleplaying and video games, spending time with animals, and continuing their Auslan studies. They are an animal lover and enjoy caring for their cat.
