Mental Health Central West

Allied Health and Disability Services in the Central West

Living regionally in areas like Central West and surrounds certainly has its benefits but it also has its challenges, particularly if you are in need of allied health and disability services. Statistically, we know that people in regional centres who are experiencing physical disability and mental health issues can face difficulty finding a professional support service. Sometimes, they don’t know where to look for the support; far too often, there are simply no services available in their area.

Direct Focus Solutions (DFS) is committed to improving access to mental and physical healthcare services across central west New South Wales in order to cater for the growing number of regional residents who require support.

Our DFS Central West Clinicians

Our existing team of clinicians includes psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapist, social workers, and behaviour support specialists. With the help of our therapy assistants and support workers, we make frequent in-person visits to the Central West. We cover the areas of Central West, Orange, Lithgow and the Blue Mountains.

Our clinicians and support workers have partnered with local organisations and providers in the region to better support clients and the local community. With in-person and telehealth training, we have a focus on collaboration when providing support to our clients as well as the providers we are partnered with.

Mental health is a subject that people can be hesitant to talk about. Many individuals experiencing mental health concerns can experience feelings of isolation and hopelessness. This can be a particular problem for people living in rural areas who cannot easily access support services that may be located some distance away. Consequently, they often don’t receive the help they need.

If you or someone close to you are struggling to manage day to day life due to a range of physical or mental health concerns, DFS may be able to help find a therapy and clinician to best suit you.

There are many different types of therapy and program options available. Depending on the unique circumstances presented by every client, a comprehensive holistic approach ensures that each client receives an individually tailored service plan with clear objectives from day one from a professional who can help with their specific situation.

DFS offers clinical services, support work and professional interventions to private clients, victim services beneficiaries, CTP insurance recipients, Medicare, NDIS participants, and more. We can assess individual needs and determine the appropriate services based on available funding. Our holistic therapies are available for mental health concerns including depression and anxiety, life issues such as bereavement and developmental trauma as a result of abuse, accident or natural disaster.

Specific services include psychology, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. As well as our clinicians, we have therapy assistants who work alongside these professionals. In addition, we also have disability and community support workers to assist our clients. We assist children and adults with mental wellbeing concerns, as well as people with physical and intellectual disabilities to overcome any obstacles.

Our therapists and clinicians are highly trained specialists in their fields who know how to best apply therapies for any kind of mental health concern or disorder so that clients can get back on track with their lives again as soon as possible.

How we support regional NSW

Supporting rural and remote clients is an important part of our team’s work here at DFS. We strive to make sure every client has access to the care they need regardless of where they live. We provide expert assessment, intervention and ongoing support through a combination of telehealth (phone) sessions and in-person sessions. Our team of clinicians, therapy assistants, and disability and community support workers work together to provide holistic care tailored to meet your needs, enabling you to live life to the fullest.

Mental health concerns are on the rise in Australia and they can affect people of all ages. Mental health concerns may be distressing or disruptive to those who experience them and/or their loved ones. You may keep these feelings to yourself – maybe because you do not want to face them or because you are worried how others will perceive them (and you). However, they can become overwhelming all too quickly if you feel you are on your own and do not have the support you need.

This is when assistance from a range of professionals who understand the issues you are going through can help you to rediscover your best self. By giving you the tools that will help you overcome your difficulties, DFS can give you the confidence to get your life moving in a more positive direction.
