Deborah applies a person-centred and respectful approach throughout her supports. She works to understand each client’s individual needs, preferences, and goals. Through clear and calm communication, active listening, patience, and positive encouragement, Deborah creates a supportive environment where participants feel comfortable, respected, and involved.
Deborah is a disability support worker for DFS who is based in Kingsford. Having extensive experience across disability and aged care, she maintains a deep knowledge and longstanding commitment to supporting individuals across their daily lives. Deborah finds her work meaningful and enjoys helping participants maintain their independence, dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
Deborah encourages participants to be actively involved in their daily tasks wherever possible, while providing appropriate assistance in accordance with their abilities and circumstances. She adapts her approach when required while maintaining dignity, privacy, choice, professional boundaries, and relevant safety requirements.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, keeping active, trying different foods, and having meaningful conversations.
