Group Programs

Direct Focus Solutions provides a variety of opportunities for community participation through our group programs. Our psychology and occupational therapy teams will provide support, and our activity-focused groups are structured, graded and tailored to the individual participants. This encourages the generalisation of skills across multiple settings.

A Recipe For Social Skilling

This program gives participants in-vivo social support whilst building foundational skills such as self-regulation, sensory integration and vocation. For example, we use cooking as a platform to build towards engagement and interaction both within one’s group as well as the broader community.

Each session focuses on building the skills needed for interaction within a group setting and the broader community. Groups run for around two hours and are facilitated by an occupational therapist working with a principal psychologist. We focus on tailored activities that align with each individual within the group.

Coordination and Stability Program

Our Coordination and Stability Program incorporates the physical and mental elements of athletics and martial arts. This greatly helps to generate self-control and self-regulation in our clients. The developmental principles of each session include body awareness, self-regulation, and postural stability. As the program is both fun and flexible, the group interactions within greatly enhance social integration skills.

Each session will be led by an experienced instructor and supervised by an occupational therapist. Participants will be instructed in graded movement and stability exercises. Sessions can be either one-on-one or in groups of 3-4 depending on the needs of the individual.

We have developed programs for children and adults who may experience (but are not limited to):

  • Difficulty with following instructions
  • Low muscle tone and poor postural control
  • Sensory Processing Disorders
  • Dyspraxia or other coordination disorders comorbid with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD

All group programs are within the NDIS funding stream guidelines

Business Integration Initiative

Our Business Integration Initiative uses a performance enhancement approach in conjunction with community business stakeholders. This allows you to personally and professionally succeed in all parts of your life. The initiative is an intensive approach incorporating assessment, goal setting, and take home strategies. Our integrated network helps support this. This includes health and wellbeing practitioners, small businesses, and significant others (including family and friends).

At Direct Focus Solutions we develop and implement comprehensive individual programs for clients. These programs will include opportunities for future employment (while receiving access to health and wellbeing support.) A tentative program outline may include:

  • Assessment and review on physical and mental functions
  • Employment within participating business
  • Weekly participating business reviews
  • Psychological and Occupational Therapist strategies
