I have broad experience in education, corporate and clinical settings as a counsellor and psychologist. I have always found it a very satisfying work. Being a parent of six children and understanding my role as a partner and mother has had me racing to skill up in both these roles when it got challenging. I see my role to empower when working with my clients. If I don’t know something, I will research it and I have found that my learning and growth as a psychologist will never be finished. I often feel encouraged by the courage and perseverance of my clients. My main goal as well as equipping a client is to increase their sense of value as a person. I can describe myself as working hard with my clients and respectful of where they are at, and being excited in tracking with them on their counselling journey.
I do “talking” therapy in that a client gets to tell their life story, their ups and downs and what they need to negotiate a particular struggle or stress. I use projective techniques to gain perspective such as “Lifeline and “Tree of Life” and then utilise the cognitive and emotional grounding strategies from ACT Mindfulness. Progressive Relaxation techniques with breathing exercises are a great circuit breakers for stress management. In addition I will use bio feedback combined with neuro-feedback training for acute trauma, long term depression and developmental issuses such as ADHD, autism and learning difficulties.

|Weight Management||Anger management|
|PTSD||Postnatal depression and PMS|
I have spent over two decades in roles of counsellor and psychologist.
The back bone of the work has been with anxiety and depression issues, but my skill set has increased when dealing with complex trauma and PTSD. I have worked and continue to work with those who have been sexually, emotionally and physically abused as children. This is a long journey to recovery. I have needed to equip with techniques that support safe recovery of memories.
I also work with war veterans and their resultant PTSD to establish life that is not lived in hyper vigilance.
My other focus has been to work with post-natal depression and also to support hormonal effects on mood for women.
